A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE 1997-1998 RETIREES OF THE COLUMBUS MUNICIPAL SCHOOL DISTRICT AFTER MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE.

WHEREAS, the following persons retired from the Columbus Municipal School District in 1998 after giving many years of their time and service to the youth of the Columbus Municipal School District and the citizens of Columbus, Mississippi: Eugene Bailey, personnel coordinator, 32 years of service; Edna Carley, bookkeeper, 27 years of service; Tennie Cunningham, assistant teacher, 21 years of service; Patricia Fendley, teacher, 28 years of service; Dorothy Fitch, teacher, 40 years of service; Donnie Goss, principal, 22 years of service; Mary Henley, teacher, 29 years of service; Minnie Henson, bus driver, six years of service; Bob Hudson, assistant superintendent, 32 years of service; Carolyn Jones, teacher, 34 years of service; Lula Leigh, teacher, 36 years of service; Dale Rainey, teacher, 32 years of service; Ella Louise Richardson, assistant teacher, 27 years of service; Marjorie Robinette, teacher, 28 years of service; William Self, director, 30 years of service; Arthur Sutton, teacher, 32 years of service; Dovie Trimuel, teacher, 25 years of service; Gene Whitaker, maintenance supervisor, 19 years of service; Adartha Williams, cafeteria manager, 41 years of service; and Bert Wynn, athletic director, 34 years of service; and

WHEREAS, these retirees have unselfishly dedicated their efforts to assisting the Columbus Municipal School District in furthering its goals of educating, training and molding the students of the district to be responsible adults and future leaders; and

WHEREAS, the people of Mississippi are extremely proud of these remarkable employees, who have devoted so many years of service to Columbus and the State of Mississippi in furthering the educational and social development of the students of the Columbus Municipal School District:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend, congratulate and recognize the outstanding employees who retired in 1998 from the Columbus Municipal School District after providing so many years of dedicated service to the youth and citizens of Columbus, Mississippi.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to each of the retirees named in this resolution, the Board of Trustees of the Columbus Municipal School District and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
